New Plymouth Cooking Classes Launch

Cooking Classes New Plymouth TaranakiWell here we are.

The 22nd April 2015 and it’s launch day!

I’m feeling only semi-prepared but it’s been a fair effort getting to this point but I won’t be stressing myself out at this late stage. If I have to provide bread I haven’t made, well so be it.

Still, I’ve ordered some of my favourite french cheeses from La Fromagerie, there’s 12 bottles (ie 50 glasses) of scrummy French bubbles being delivered tomorrow from Maison Vauron. I’ve made a terrine (sans the usual pork backfat because Mark, the butcher, and I were too busy chatting to concentrate on the job at hand), I’ve made some hand dipped chocolate truffles.

I’ve got a biga going for a sourdough style bread I’d intended to make but it’s just moving too slow in these Autumnal NZ temperatures. In a moment I will slice and dry the biscotti log made by my school holiday students and then I’ll consider whether or not to make some lavash for the cheese and profiteroles for good luck.

Now I just need to remember to buy ice!

I’m excited and nervous about re-launching Cook Learn Love here in New Plymouth. CLL proved to be a wonderful business back in Australia and I made many, many new friends through my classes.

But that was then and this is now. Now I have two gorgeous children, Thomas (3) and Sophie (11 months) and these precious souls are fun, messy, demanding, unpredictable and messy (yes I said that twice).

Running a business and a home simultaneously is a big task. So, as I’m writing this I want to thank the people who have helped me enormously in making it this far. Cook Learn Love is far from a one woman band!

Firstly my husband, Dave, who’s helped me in too many ways to list here, my parents, Rosemary and Fred Pratt, Corinne Davies from Site Smart Digital (for this website) and of course Andrea Leadbetter from TGM Creative (for my promotional materials). I’d also like to especially thank Kirstin and Rodney from Kitchen Studio for sharing my vision and going out on a limb by hosting a great many of our classes in their beautiful showroom. And lastly thank-you to my friends, here and overseas, your support means an enormous amount to me.

So, if I don’t see you tonight, thanks for popping by the blog. Wish us good luck with our new Venture!
